ECBI External Control Beacon Interface EN54-16 - 24/48VDC |

The ECBI (External Control Beacon Interface) module manages the switching on of the beacons and oversees to the diagnostics of the power line.
Each module is capable of controlling up to 4 connection lines of beacons, through a power contact and the diagnostics of the line, by detecting the conditions of “short circuit”, “open line” and “dispersion to the ground”.
The maximum capacity of each line is 5 A.
The power supply of the beacons is tipically included from 24 to 48 Vdc.
The ECBI module is powered by the ECxI rack unit by means of 24 Vdc voltage, coming from the PSDV module.
The connection of the beacons to the ECBI module can be done through 2 different criteria:
• “terminated line” mode: a 6.8 Kohm resistor is being
placed on the end-line beacon;
• “line loop” mode: from the end-line beacon, the connection
line is being reconnected to the related terminal strip
located on the back panel of the module.
The ECBI module also monitors the presence of the supply voltage of the beacons and checks the integrity of the
protection fuse of the supply voltage.
On the front panel of the module there are:
• 4 LEDs for displaying the activation status of the line
(green LED=active line);
• 4 LEDs for displaying the diagnostics of the line
(yellow LED=faulty line);
• 1 LED for displaying the presence of the power supply
(green LED=power ON);
• 1 LED for displaying the fuse status
(yellow LED= faulty fuse);
• a ON/OFF switch for powering up the beacons.
All the voltages and signals used to monitor the beacon lines are galvanically isolated from the reference voltages of the ECBI module.
A version of the ECBI module for beacons powered by DC voltage is also available.
